Decode a VIN before searching for replacement parts

Review the decoded vehicle, search by a precise part description and keep fitment checks with the retailer.

Editorial review:

Decode, then verify the vehicle

Enter or scan the VIN and review the returned year, make, model, trim and engine before saving the vehicle. Manufacturer submissions can leave fields blank or return partial information, especially for older vehicles. Correct the record using the registration, door label or other trusted vehicle paperwork before opening seller searches.

NHTSA vPIC decodes manufacturer-submitted vehicle attributes. It does not provide a parts catalog and does not establish that a particular product fits a specific trim or equipment package.

Describe the part precisely

Choose one of the available categories or enter a specific part name or manufacturer number. Add the position when it matters, such as front brake pads or a left mirror. Use an exact OEM number when you have it; a broad phrase can return parts for different engines or positions.

Example: start with a verified 2018 vehicle record, choose the brake category and specify front or rear. Compare the retailer's vehicle selector and product fitment table with the actual car before ordering.

Compare retailer results as leads

Partlane opens searches at Amazon, eBay, Walmart, RockAuto, AutoZone and O'Reilly. Some links are vehicle-specific; retailers may still reset sort choices, insert sponsored items, request a location or ask you to confirm the vehicle again. Select the final product on the retailer's page.

The optional eBay cards require a connected provider. If the feed is unavailable, use the retailer links rather than treating missing offers as proof that no product exists. Seller feedback is about the seller, not the product's star rating. Shipping, tax and core charges can change the total.

Confirm fitment before purchase

Compare engine, trim, position, part number, included hardware and return terms with the seller's exact listing. RockAuto catalog navigation can resolve a category leaf, but that is not confirmation that every listed part matches the vehicle's trim or package.

VIN decoding is a discovery step, not a fitment guarantee. The app does not aggregate every store's inventory, complete a purchase or establish compatibility from a keyword match. Confirm the listing with the retailer or a qualified parts professional before ordering.
