FIELD GUIDE ยท Ashen Province
Plan a tactical hunt in Ashen Province
Read the telegraphed enemy action, build focus and decide when to guard, interrupt or spend a hunt power in the browser game.
Editorial review:
Prepare before spending action points
Open Actions, choose Hunts and select an unlocked route. Entering a hunt costs 3 action points; the combat turns themselves do not cost AP. Check your health, equipment and available supplies before you commit. Each hunt is three encounters, so a decision that saves health early can matter later.
The next enemy move is visible before you act. Read whether the enemy is winding up a heavy hit or preparing another move, then choose an action for that threat instead of repeating Strike by habit.
Build focus and use the enemy's windup
Strike or Guard can build focus for your class powers. Guard reduces a heavy hit without requiring focus; an interrupt cancels the current windup and skips the following heavy attack. Compare the focus cost and purpose of a power before spending it, especially when a more dangerous move is coming.
Example: if a heavy attack is telegraphed and you have a useful interrupt available, cancelling it may protect more health than dealing a small amount of immediate damage. If the attack is not interruptible or the power is unavailable, Guard is the defensive option described by the hunt rules.
Use camps and salves as recovery choices
A hunt provides two salves, and healing uses a turn. Between encounters, a camp offers either 8 health or 8 embers. Choose the recovery that responds to the state of this run: take health if another encounter is likely to end it, or embers if the traveler can safely continue and the resource has a planned use.
After the boss, inspect the choice of three relics and equip a reward in Inventory to activate its statistics and hunt trait. If the pack is full, the reward goes to the persistent stash rather than vanishing.
Check which version includes hunts
The tactical hunt expansion is in the current browser game and internal iPhone beta 1.2.0 (7). The public iPhone App Store version is 1.1.0 and does not include this hunt expansion. Use the browser link below if you want to try these rules now; check the product page for current iPhone availability.
Routes unlock after clearing their predecessor, and enemy patterns and rewards are authored parts of the game. This is a tactical suggestion, not a guaranteed clear; health, focus, class powers and selected equipment still affect the outcome. A private recovery key continues the same traveler across supported devices, so keep it private.
