Turn a project brief into a first-week plan
Shape a short project brief into an editable plan, then turn the next actions into tasks, dates and reminders.
Editorial review:
Separate the outcome from the work
Start with one sentence describing what should be true when the project is done. Add the deadline, the people involved and any hard constraints. Keep background notes separate from the result you need; a planning prompt works better when it has a clear finish line.
For example, “Open a weekend repair workshop by November 15” is more useful than “work on workshop idea.” Add facts you know, such as a room that seats twelve and a two-person team. Mark assumptions as assumptions so they do not become commitments by accident.
Draft, inspect, then save
In Checkmate, use the project-planning prompt to draft a plan from the brief. Read every proposed task before confirming the write. Rename broad items into actions with an observable result, remove work that is not needed for the first week, and fill in owners or due dates only when the team has agreed to them.
A generated plan is a starting draft. Check that dates are feasible, dependencies are in the right order and each item has one clear next action. The app asks for confirmation before the drafted plan is written to the workspace.
Make the first week visible
Save the reviewed tasks in the project, then choose the view that fits the work: a list for sequencing, a board for status, or a calendar for dated commitments. Attach a note or file to the task that needs it instead of burying the detail in the project title. Add a reminder only to a task where a timely nudge would help.
A useful first-week plan might begin with checking venue availability, choosing a booking method and drafting a short event description. The sequence matters: do not assign a publication deadline before the venue is confirmed.
Keep the plan honest
Review the open tasks at the end of the week. Mark completed work, move dates that changed and add the next action where a task is blocked. Check browser notification and email reminder settings if you depend on reminders; delivery depends on the account and browser configuration.
Checkmate organizes work and can draft project tasks. It does not decide whether a deadline is realistic, verify a dependency or guarantee that a reminder is seen. Use team discussion and the source records behind each decision for those checks.
